Vercel open-sources AI Gateway leaderboard data
Vercel has open-sourced its AI Gateway leaderboard data under the CC BY 4.0 license, allowing users to download metrics as CSV files or query them programmatically via a new API endpoint. Additionally, developers can now generate and export customizable PNG charts of real-world model usage directly from the platform.
Vercel is leveraging its massive network of deployed frontends to establish itself as the de facto authority on real-world AI model usage, offering a transparent, production-proven counterweight to academic and synthetic benchmarks.
* Real-world telemetry over synthetic tests: Unlike traditional benchmarks that rely on human votes or static evaluation suites, Vercel's data shows what developers are actually spending money on in production.
* Programmatic transparency: Providing an API endpoint under a permissive CC BY 4.0 license encourages developers, researchers, and financial analysts to build custom tooling and reports on top of Vercel's aggregator.
* Viral loop growth: Shareable PNG charts act as free marketing for Vercel, driving engagement on social platforms like X whenever model rankings shift.
* Provider neutrality: Although Vercel works closely with major players, hosting open data allows for objective comparison of cost, performance, and volume across OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others.
