Claude Code 2.1.311 Unlocks Dangerous Commands
Claude Code v2.1.311 adds an opt-in switch that removes remaining prompts for dangerous commands in bypass-permission mode. The release gives isolated environments more autonomy while Anthropic continues recommending Auto mode for safer long-running work.
This is a darkly funny but consequential developer update: Claude Code is making its most dangerous mode genuinely unrestricted.
- –The new `CLAUDE_CODE_EVEN_MORE_DANGEROUSLY_SKIP_PERMISSIONS=1` variable can allow dangerous `rm` commands to run without prompts.
- –It is useful for disposable containers, CI runners, and tightly isolated sandboxes—not ordinary laptops or production environments.
- –Auto mode remains the better default because it evaluates tool calls and blocks higher-risk actions.
- –The real product shift is operational: safety now depends more heavily on environment isolation, least privilege, and rollback discipline.
