Asahi Linux Adds Official M3 Support

This is a major open-source portability milestone, but “official support” still means developer-grade experimentation on M3 hardware rather than a polished daily-driver replacement for macOS.

• –The installer now makes M3 Linux accessible, lowering the barrier for testers and contributors.
• –Core laptop hardware works, including networking, input, cameras, audio, storage, and USB 3.
• –Missing GPU acceleration is the decisive limitation for desktop responsiveness, graphics workloads, and many developer workflows.
• –Incomplete DCP support breaks sleep, brightness, internal displays, and HDMI on affected machines.
• –The project’s progress shows why reverse-engineering Apple’s firmware interfaces remains the central bottleneck for each chip generation.
