The pitch is directionally right: MCP solves connectivity, skills solve repeatable behavior, and production agents need both.

• –MCP exposes tools and data; skills package the instructions, workflows, and domain know-how needed to use them reliably.
• –The real wedge is discovery plus trust: a searchable index and security screening matter more than yet another GitHub repo of prompt files.
• –If the ecosystem standardizes, skills could become the distribution layer for agent procedures across editors, CLIs, and hosted agents.
