Agent Vault launches credential-safe agent payments
Self Labs launches Agent Vault, a cross-agent payment and login layer that gives agents worthless placeholders while a trusted execution environment injects real cards, passwords, and profile data only at submission. It supports popular agent platforms, spending caps, merchant allowlists, and instant revocation.
Agent Vault targets a real agent-security failure mode: prompt injection can turn any credential in an agent’s context into a transferable secret. Its architecture is compelling, but the trust boundary shifts to Self’s enclave, session isolation, and policy enforcement, making it a promising containment layer rather than a universal safety guarantee.
- –Placeholder credentials keep raw payment and login data out of model contexts, logs, and agent-visible workflows
- –Daily, weekly, monthly, and per-transaction limits add practical guardrails against runaway purchases
- –Compatibility across Muse, OpenClaw, Hermes, Grok Bot, Claude, and Codex makes the product useful as agents increasingly become interchangeable
- –Support for existing merchant checkout flows avoids requiring retailers to integrate a new payment protocol
- –Developers should still validate enclave attestation, transaction-intent checks, phishing resistance, recovery procedures, and enterprise audit controls
