Tabula launches free Mac database client
Tabula is a free, MIT-licensed native macOS client for PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, SQLite, and Redis, with an optional AI assistant that can run locally or through external providers. Its schema-aware tools generate and fix SQL while keeping database rows private. [GitHub](https://github.com/tungnguyenvan/tabula)
Tabula’s strongest angle is restraint: it adds AI where database workflows benefit, without turning a privacy-sensitive client into a cloud service.
- –Supports browsing, editing, SQL execution, filtering, diagrams, metrics, and Redis administration in one keyboard-first app
- –Local GGUF models, Ollama, Apple Intelligence, Claude, OpenAI-compatible APIs, Claude Code, and Codex provide flexible AI backends
- –AI receives schema and query context, not table rows, and is disabled by default for production connections
- –No account, telemetry, usage limits, or subscription lowers adoption friction for individual developers
- –Early limitations include no SSH tunnels and no query cancellation
