Tencent drops HY-World 2.0 for editable 3D worlds
Tencent has released HY-World 2.0, an open-source multimodal world model that generates fully editable, persistent 3D assets from text or images. Unlike video-based models that output transient pixels, HY-World 2.0 produces standard 3D meshes and Gaussian splatting ready for game engines.
HY-World 2.0 marks a critical pivot in world models, moving away from hallucinated video generation and toward actual 3D asset creation for game development and simulation. It solves the biggest pain points of pixel-based models: 3D consistency and practical utility.
- –Generates persistent, editable 3D assets (meshes, 3DGS) that can be imported directly into Unity, Unreal Engine, and Isaac Sim.
- –Achieves real-time rendering and true 3D consistency, bypassing the flickering and high per-frame inference costs of video models like Sora or Genie.
- –Supports interactive character mode with physical collisions, enabling zero-error control that video generation cannot match.
- –Open-sourcing this pipeline positions Tencent to become a foundational layer for AI-native game development and spatial computing.
