CC Statusline puts Claude costs in terminal
cc-statusline is an open-source Claude Code statusline dashboard that surfaces active model, session cost, token/context usage, quota bars, agents, MCP health, and recent message history directly in the CLI. It targets developers who want budget and context visibility without interrupting their coding flow.
This is a small but practical quality-of-life tool for heavy Claude Code users: cost anxiety and context blindness are real workflow taxes, and the terminal is the right place to expose both.
- –The project goes beyond a simple cost ticker, aggregating all-session and current-session spend, token counts, quota windows, compact counts, and git context.
- –Hook support adds richer session awareness, including subagent tracking, edited files, message history, and auto-generated session summaries.
- –The tradeoff is setup complexity: users need Claude Code statusLine config plus optional hooks, so this is most useful for power users already comfortable editing CLI settings.
- –The broader signal is clear: AI coding tools are spawning their own observability layer as developers start treating token burn, context state, and rate limits like first-class dev metrics.
