Pine Computer launches AI-native cloud computer
Pine Computer gives AI agents API access to isolated cloud computers with browsers, files, shells, structured state changes, and human takeover for sensitive steps. The invite-only beta targets developers building agents for real-world workflows that lack APIs.
Pine’s strongest idea is that computer-use agents need a purpose-built runtime, not merely smarter models. The benchmark advantage is promising, but early: Pine reports higher checkpoint progress while completing fewer end-to-end tasks than Claude Code with Opus 5.
- –Event-driven updates can reduce screenshot polling, latency, and model-token costs.
- –Developers can run parallel computers per customer and integrate them through an SDK.
- –Browser, spreadsheet, portal, and shell access makes the platform useful beyond API-connected workflows.
- –Isolation, scoped access, encryption, and human takeover address some of the security risks around agent credentials.
- –SaaS-Bench v1.1 results show 78.3% checkpoint progress and 27.4% resolved tasks, so reliability—not raw checkpoint score—will determine production adoption.
