Project Zenith gets the local-AI hardware trend right but frames routine configuration work as a platform breakthrough. It feels more like an OEM marketing bundle than a meaningful new Windows developer product.

• –The 64GB unified-memory and 250GB/s bandwidth floor targets serious local-AI developers, not the broader developer audience Microsoft’s branding implies.
• –Microsoft’s open-source Windows Developer Configurations already deliver much of the software setup and cleanup on ordinary PCs.
• –The more interesting pieces are agent security features such as OS-enforced identity, Microsoft Execution Containers, and enterprise manageability, though Microsoft has not yet shown enough implementation detail.
