ServiceNow unveils AI Passport for agents
ServiceNow introduced AI Passport, a cryptographically signed authority layer that verifies what first- and third-party AI agents and MCP servers can access or execute at runtime. Expected in Q4 2026, it complements expanded discovery, observability, cost governance, and policy enforcement through ServiceNow’s Super Intelligence Control Tower.
AI Passport tackles the hardest enterprise-agent problem: turning permissions from static paperwork into enforceable, real-time boundaries. Its value will depend on interoperability and whether developers can adopt the controls without adding excessive workflow friction.
- –Runtime authorization can prevent agents from exceeding their approved scope, rather than merely documenting violations afterward.
- –Scoped delegation and precision revocation are especially relevant for multi-agent workflows and third-party agents.
- –MCP server governance gives platform teams a way to control tool access as agent ecosystems expand.
- –Integration with NVIDIA OpenShell connects ServiceNow’s business-context policies to enforcement at the runtime layer.
- –Cost governance, shadow-AI detection, and observability position ServiceNow as an enterprise AI control plane, not just a compliance dashboard.
