Cohere Transcribe Arabic gains MLX support for Macs
Thanks to contributions from community members, the Cohere Transcribe Arabic model can now be run entirely locally on MacBooks using mlx-audio. This capability allows users to transcribe meetings, dictate voice notes, and more directly on Apple Silicon devices.
The integration of MLX for local inference is a major quality-of-life improvement for Mac users, keeping data completely private while still delivering high performance. It eliminates the need for cloud-based APIs for Arabic transcription on Macs and is ideal for handling sensitive audio recordings like private meetings or personal voice notes. This update also highlights the fast-growing open-source community around the MLX framework for Apple hardware.
