MulmoChat turns voice chat into canvas
MulmoChat is an open-source multimodal chat prototype that turns voice conversations into interactive visual outputs on a shared canvas. It supports OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, and Ollama, with a plugin system for custom experiences.
This is less a chatbot than a canvas-native AI workspace, and that distinction is the whole story. Voice input plus immediate visual output makes the interaction feel closer to conversational software than a text box with extra steps. The provider-agnostic text API lowers lock-in and makes the app easier to run across cloud and local models. Plugin extensibility is the real moat: if developers can add domain-specific actions, the canvas can stretch into maps, slides, games, spreadsheets, and more. Native ComfyUI support and the repo's API-key-driven setup show real flexibility, but they also make clear this is still a prototype more than a polished consumer product.
