Coucou brings Claude Code into your notch
Coucou is an open-source desktop companion that surfaces Claude Code activity, permission approvals, file drops, and chat inside the macOS notch or Windows top edge. It runs locally, stores credentials in native keychains, and collects no telemetry.
Coucou makes agent supervision feel ambient instead of interrupt-driven, giving Claude Code a memorable interface beyond the terminal. Its biggest challenge is polishing trust and installation friction as competing notch companions emerge.
- –Claude Code hooks let developers approve permissions and monitor sessions without switching windows.
- –Native macOS SwiftUI and Windows Tauri implementations broaden its reach across developer workstations.
- –File context, built-in chat, and integrations push it beyond a notification widget toward an agent control surface.
- –No telemetry and local credential storage are strong differentiators for privacy-conscious developers.
- –The unsigned macOS build and temporarily paused Windows installer create adoption barriers despite the open-source codebase.
