Meta WebMCP Brings Voice Actions to Glasses
Meta is bringing WebMCP to Web Apps on Ray-Ban Display glasses, letting Meta AI invoke developer-defined tools through voice. The developer preview gives hands-free users a faster way to complete actions inside an open web app.
This is a meaningful step toward agent-native wearables, but WebMCP is currently a tightly scoped bridge between Meta AI and the active app—not a universal glasses agent.
- –Developers can expose selected app actions without building a native SDK integration
- –Tools run inside the page, with access to its state, DOM, authenticated session, and APIs
- –WebMCP is limited to the foreground Web App and cannot yet compose tools across apps
- –The 10-second execution deadline and partial schema support make validation and concise tool design essential
- –Browser simulation and standard web technologies lower the barrier for experimenting before hardware access
