Google AI Studio adds full-stack builder
Google AI Studio has moved well beyond a Gemini prompt playground with a new Build tab, native code generation via Gemini 2.5 Pro, iterative app editing with diffs and checkpoints, and one-click Cloud Run deployment. The result is a much more credible browser-based environment for taking AI app ideas from prompt to working prototype.
Google is trying to close the gap between model demo and shippable app, and this update makes AI Studio feel much closer to an actual product-building surface than a sandbox.
- –The Build tab plus native code generation turns AI Studio into a fast path for creating complete web apps from text, image, or video prompts
- –Chat-based iteration, diff views, and rollback checkpoints make the workflow feel more like a lightweight AI IDE than a one-shot generator
- –One-click Cloud Run deployment matters because it gives developers a direct path from prototype to live app without leaving the tool
- –Native audio, TTS, media generation, and Live API upgrades keep AI Studio tightly aligned with Google’s multimodal stack rather than just plain text app building
- –MCP support in the Gen AI SDK is a meaningful ecosystem move, giving developers a cleaner way to connect models to external tools and workflows
