Omarchy A Runs Natively on iPad 6
Omarchy A, a community port built on Arch Linux ARM, now runs natively on the iPad 6 with touchscreen, Wi-Fi, hardware buttons, brightness, battery, and charging support. It remains an experimental, tethered, no-GPU preview rather than a daily-driver release.
This is a thrilling hardware breakthrough, but the demo is currently more compelling than practical.
- –A device-aware CLI and installer make the bring-up process reproducible.
- –Support is limited to the iPad 6 Wi-Fi, with cold boots requiring a host computer.
- –Suspend/resume, Bluetooth audio, higher-current charging, and GPU acceleration remain unfinished.
- –Passwordless sudo and experimental boot tooling mean users should dedicate a spare device.
- –The larger win is a reusable path toward Linux on more Apple A-series devices.
