fx v0.0.16 cuts tokens, download size
Vercel’s open-source coding agent fx v0.0.16 reduces uncached input tokens by 41%, cuts libfx downloads by about 60%, and shrinks the CLI binary by 2.8%. It also expands file-edit capacity to 16 MiB and improves prompt-cache reuse across workspaces.
This is a practical efficiency release: less agent overhead directly means lower costs and faster deployment for developers embedding fx.
- –Prompt-cache breaks fell 87.5%, making long-running coding sessions more economical.
- –Native platform packages avoid downloading binaries for every operating system.
- –Long agent turns use 50–59% less CPU in the project’s benchmark.
- –The 16 MiB file limit makes fx more useful for larger codebases and generated artifacts.
