OpenDots launches self-hosted AI coworkers
CopilotKit released OpenDots, an open-source template for persistent AI coworkers that work across web, mobile, voice calls, and Slack. Developers can self-host specialist agents, give them computers and tools, schedule background tasks, and use OpenAI-compatible models.
OpenDots makes the “always-on coworker” concept more hackable, but its alpha, single-owner design means teams will need to build the production safeguards themselves.
- –AG-UI and OpenAI-compatible model support reduce platform lock-in.
- –Per-agent browsers, files, terminals, permissions, and human approval create a practical computer-use foundation.
- –Persistent Spaces, Pages, conversations, and Automatic Learning turn agent output into reusable project context.
- –Slack and voice interfaces make agents accessible where teams already work.
- –Missing multi-user collaboration, fully verified Slack integrations, and mature event triggers limit immediate enterprise readiness.
