Tower 18 Connects AI Agents to Git GUI
Tower 18 for Mac pairs a rewritten `gittower` CLI with Tower’s visual Git workflow, letting developers jump from terminal sessions into History, Blame, Working Copy, or Branches Review. Its new Agent Skill can hand off those commands from tools such as Claude Code and Codex.
Tower’s smartest move is positioning its GUI as an inspection layer for agent-generated work. It keeps terminal-driven development fast while preserving the visual review workflow many developers prefer.
- –Direct commands reduce context switching after `git log`, branch work, or agent tasks
- –`gittower working-copy` creates a clear review checkpoint before changes are committed
- –Branch-parent metadata makes agent-created commits easier to distinguish in stacked workflows
- –The Agent Skill offers a lightweight bridge from coding agents into a desktop Git client
- –The CLI remains a launcher rather than an agent control plane: it does not commit, push, or modify working files
