Hermes Agent v0.21.0 Ships Bot Society
Nous Research released Hermes Agent v0.21.0, “The Pantheon Release,” with desktop-native Bot Mode, named agents, group chats, bot-to-bot messaging, persistent cron memory, live subagent steering, an MCP command center, and agent-driven browser control. Official release notes: https://github.com/NousResearch/hermes-agent/releases/tag/v2026.8.31
This is a meaningful shift from one agent with tools toward an inspectable workforce of persistent, collaborating agents.
- –Bot Mode turns profiles into named agents with avatars, shared rosters, rooms, and @mentions.
- –`hermes peer` creates durable agent-to-agent handoffs across profiles and gateways.
- –Persistent cron memory and continuity make scheduled automation stateful instead of repetitive.
- –Live steering, structured outputs, and cost reporting make parallel delegation easier to manage.
- –The MCP dashboard and browser control broaden Hermes’ operator surface, while new approval and redaction safeguards address the security cost of giving agents more autonomy.
