OBS Studio 33 Lands With CEF, Plugin Overhaul
OBS Studio 33.0.0 updates its Chromium Embedded Framework from 127 to 150, overhauls plugin loading, improves source snapping, and adds Arm64 NVENC support. The open-source streaming tool also gains newer NVIDIA Broadcast SDK support and improved game capture detection.
OBS 33 is a foundation-heavy release whose biggest changes happen beneath the interface. The plugin migration is the key developer concern, while the browser-engine upgrade should improve longevity but may expose compatibility regressions.
- –CEF 150 modernizes browser sources and docks after more than two years of underlying changes
- –The new plugin structure gives third-party developers a transition window before legacy paths disappear in OBS 34
- –Arm64 NVENC support expands hardware-accelerated encoding on compatible systems
- –Improved snapping, numeric controls, fullscreen game detection, and NVIDIA Broadcast support polish daily workflows
- –Linux users should review platform support changes, including the retirement of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS support
