Google Stitch 2.0 adds AI design canvas
Google Labs is evolving Stitch into an AI-native software design canvas for high-fidelity UI, with an infinite canvas, a new design agent, voice input, and DESIGN.md for portable design systems. The update also pushes harder on developer handoff through MCP, SDK support, and exports to tools like AI Studio and Antigravity.
// ANALYSIS
Google is trying to turn Stitch from a prompt-to-mockup demo into a real workflow layer for design-to-code handoff, and that is the part worth paying attention to.
- –The infinite canvas and agent manager make Stitch feel closer to a true design workspace than a one-shot generator.
- –DESIGN.md is the strategic move here because it gives design rules a portable, agent-friendly format that can travel between tools.
- –Voice-driven iteration could make early product exploration much faster for founders, PMs, and designers working in rough ideation mode.
- –MCP, SDK, and export paths are the bridge to developers, which is where most AI design tools break down.
- –This is still an update, not a brand-new category, but it puts Google squarely in the AI UI builder race with a more integrated stack than many rivals.
