Netlify makes new projects private by default
Netlify has updated its platform to enable private-by-default access across all new projects, Deploy Previews, branch deploys, and agent run previews. Instead of requiring manual password setup or token rotation, access permissions automatically follow existing Netlify team memberships, allowing developers and teams to safely build, test, and iterate internally before making their work public.
Defaulting to private deployments solves a persistent friction point for web teams who previously had to manually manage passwords or risk leaking work-in-progress code.
- –Automatically aligns project access control with existing team management without password maintenance overhead.
- –Secures all preview types out of the box, including branch deploys, Deploy Previews, and AI agent run previews.
- –Prevents unintended public exposure of staging environments and pre-release features.
