OpenBot Android Puts Agent Teams Mobile
OpenBot’s Android companion lets users chat with and monitor agents running on a computer or server, including sending files remotely. It is free and keeps chats and files on the host, but requires the host to remain online.
OpenBot’s mobile app is best understood as a remote control for a local-first agent workspace, not a standalone Android agent. That tradeoff is compelling for privacy-conscious developers, but setup and availability remain its biggest hurdles.
- –Supports multiple agent providers, including Codex, Claude Code, Gemini, Grok, Cursor, Cline, OpenCode, Ollama and LM Studio
- –Encrypted device connections keep conversations and files on the computer running OpenBot
- –QR-based pairing and the always-on host requirement make onboarding less seamless than native mobile assistants
- –Voice mode, file sharing, visual replies and reconnection improvements give the app meaningful mobile utility
- –The next priority should be stronger offline states, background notifications and clearer security guidance for agents with host-level access
