Fugleramme turns bird calls into e-ink art
Fugleramme is an open-source ambient hardware project that pairs a Raspberry Pi with an e-ink display to visualize local bird species detected through sound. Driven by BirdNET-Go running entirely on-device, the system listens via an attached microphone, processes acoustic detections locally, and matches identified species to a curated library of over 800 hand-cut, public-domain 1800s natural history illustrations covering more than 400 species. The display refreshes dynamically only when new birds are heard, packing illustrations onto an Inky Impression e-ink screen or a web-based kiosk interface with zero cloud dependencies.
