Orca Adds PTY Resource Manager
Orca’s new PTY manager shows which agents and shells are consuming pseudo-terminal slots and lets developers end selected sessions. The feature addresses macOS’s system-wide PTY ceiling, which can otherwise prevent every terminal from opening.
This is unglamorous infrastructure that becomes essential once developers run multiple AI coding agents in parallel.
- –Makes terminal ownership visible instead of forcing developers to diagnose usage with process tools
- –Lets users reclaim stale sessions without restarting Orca or rebooting the machine
- –Highlights resource exhaustion as a first-class problem in agent orchestration
- –Should eventually distinguish active sessions from leaked or orphaned PTY handles
