Vercel Drives Brings Durable State to Agents
Vercel Drives is now generally available across Vercel Sandbox plans, letting agents preserve files across runs and execution environments. Drives support persistent workspaces, shared datasets, and independent forks for parallel workers, with capacity up to 16 TiB. [Announcement](https://vercel.com/blog/introducing-vercel-drives-persistent-storage-for-agents)
Persistent filesystem state is the missing primitive that turns disposable agent sandboxes into resumable products, though it is not a replacement for a database or durable workflow engine.
- –Agents can resume code edits, research artifacts, dependencies, and model data without rebuilding their workspace.
- –Drive forks let parallel workers experiment from the same starting state without mutating the original. [Changelog](https://vercel.com/changelog/vercel-drives-is-now-generally-available)
- –The all-plans rollout lowers the barrier for smaller teams building stateful agents.
- –Region pinning and usage-based storage, read, and write costs make data locality and cost modeling important in production.
- –Vercel is assembling a credible agent infrastructure stack around Sandbox compute, persistent storage, and workflow durability.
