Anthropic open-sources Knowledge Work Plugins
Anthropic has open-sourced Knowledge Work Plugins, a repo of 11 role-specific plugins for Claude Cowork and Claude Code spanning sales, legal, finance, data, product, and other knowledge-work functions. Each plugin bundles skills, slash commands, sub-agents, and MCP-based tool connectors into file-based workflows teams can install quickly, then adapt to their own stack and processes.
Anthropic is trying to turn “AI teammates” from vague demos into reusable operating templates for real orgs.
- –The smart move here is packaging workflows by job function, not by model capability, which is much closer to how enterprises actually buy and deploy AI
- –MCP connectors make the repo more than a prompt library: these plugins are designed to reach into Slack, Notion, HubSpot, Snowflake, Jira, and other systems where work already lives
- –The fully file-based structure lowers the barrier to customization, so ops or product teams can tweak behavior without building a full internal platform first
- –Compatibility with both Claude Cowork and Claude Code suggests Anthropic wants one plugin ecosystem to span knowledge work and developer workflows
- –Open-sourcing the starter set gives Anthropic a distribution wedge: if teams standardize on these templates, Claude becomes harder to swap out later
