Anthropic open-sources Knowledge Work Plugins

Anthropic has open-sourced Knowledge Work Plugins, a repo of 11 role-specific plugins for Claude Cowork and Claude Code spanning sales, legal, finance, data, product, and other knowledge-work functions. Each plugin bundles skills, slash commands, sub-agents, and MCP-based tool connectors into file-based workflows teams can install quickly, then adapt to their own stack and processes.

// ANALYSIS

Anthropic is trying to turn “AI teammates” from vague demos into reusable operating templates for real orgs.

  • The smart move here is packaging workflows by job function, not by model capability, which is much closer to how enterprises actually buy and deploy AI
  • MCP connectors make the repo more than a prompt library: these plugins are designed to reach into Slack, Notion, HubSpot, Snowflake, Jira, and other systems where work already lives
  • The fully file-based structure lowers the barrier to customization, so ops or product teams can tweak behavior without building a full internal platform first
  • Compatibility with both Claude Cowork and Claude Code suggests Anthropic wants one plugin ecosystem to span knowledge work and developer workflows
  • Open-sourcing the starter set gives Anthropic a distribution wedge: if teams standardize on these templates, Claude becomes harder to swap out later
