IFTTT MCP connects Claude to apps

This is less a developer framework release than a distribution play: IFTTT is making its old automation graph useful again by putting Claude in front of it.

• –The useful bit is action-taking, not search: Claude can send messages, log tasks, control devices, and create automations from natural language.
• –The initial setup is Claude-specific and requires a paid Claude plan, so this is not yet a universal MCP endpoint for every AI client.
• –It competes directly with Zapier MCP, but IFTTT’s consumer IoT and lightweight automation footprint gives it a different surface area.
• –The risk is permission sprawl: giving an assistant access to hundreds of app actions makes OAuth scope clarity and confirmation UX matter more than the demo suggests.
