Le Chat adds Work mode for agents
Work mode is a preview feature in Le Chat that lets Mistral plan and execute multi-step tasks in one run, picking tools on its own, parallelizing work where possible, and pausing for approval before sensitive actions. It pushes Le Chat closer to an agentic workspace for research, triage, and cross-tool task completion.
// ANALYSIS
This is the kind of feature that makes a chatbot feel less like a prompt box and more like an execution layer. The real test is whether Mistral can keep the long-horizon planning reliable enough to replace a stack of smaller manual interactions.
- –The feature is explicitly optimized for multi-step workflows, not single-turn Q&A, which is where most “agent” products actually start to matter
- –Parallel tool calls and longer-lived sessions are the important bits here: they reduce latency and help the assistant stay on task across branching work
- –Approval gating for destructive actions is the right control surface for email, messaging, and data edits; it makes the feature usable in real workplaces
- –The preview limitation matters: Mistral is still tuning capabilities, access, and permissions, so this is a direction signal more than a finished platform claim
- –Powering Work mode with Mistral Medium 3.5 ties the product story to a broader move toward agent-native models, not just UI polish
