Merge Unified skips customer reauth
Merge Unified’s credential bootstrapping lets developers hand over existing OAuth access tokens to create Linked Accounts without sending customers through Merge Link again. It targets migrations from in-house integrations or competing providers, with validation and initial sync handled automatically.
This is a practical infrastructure upgrade that removes one of the biggest migration bottlenecks: waiting for every customer to reconnect. The tradeoff is that credential handling becomes a more sensitive backend responsibility.
- –Supports bulk migrations from existing integrations or other providers
- –Avoids the usual link-token and public-token exchange
- –Validates credentials live before creating the Linked Account and starting sync
- –Currently accepts OAuth 2.0 access tokens and requires Merge enablement per organization and integration
- –Expired tokens, missing scopes, and required connection fields still trigger reauthorization
