Stitch Agent Skills bridge design-to-code gap
Google Labs has released Stitch Agent Skills, a modular library of AI capabilities that connect the Stitch UI designer to coding agents like Claude Code and Gemini CLI via the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The tool automates the traditional designer-to-developer handoff by generating DESIGN.md files, production-ready React components, and full site structures directly from design-driven prompts.
Stitch is a major leap toward "vibe coding" becoming a professional reality by making design tokens first-class citizens for AI agents. The design-md tool creates a shared "source of truth" that prevents model hallucination in component styling, while native integration with Claude Code via MCP validates the protocol as the emerging industry standard for agentic tools. Multi-page generation via stitch-loop moves beyond simple component generation toward autonomous full-app scaffolding, and the use of npx skills suggests a growing ecosystem of standardized, portable agent capabilities. Ultimately, the project turns Google's internal design expertise into a portable tool for any developer using an AI-native IDE.
