Omarchy Mobile Brings Arch Linux to Phones
Omarchy Mobile is an experimental, open-source port of Omarchy’s Arch Linux desktop to phones, combining Arch Linux ARM, Hyprland, GPU rendering, and a touch-focused Quickshell interface. It currently targets devices including the OnePlus 7 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro, but remains a developer bring-up rather than a daily-driver OS.
Omarchy Mobile shows how AI coding agents can accelerate difficult hardware bring-up, but polished demos still conceal substantial kernel, firmware, power, and telephony work.
- –Runs native Linux instead of Android, with device-specific kernel and firmware support
- –Brings Omarchy’s desktop workflow to touch through a dedicated mobile shell
- –Pixel 7 Pro support demonstrates a path toward cellular, Android apps via Waydroid, and modern GPU acceleration
- –Hardware compatibility remains narrow, and the project is not yet a general-purpose installation image
- –The bigger opportunity is a reusable, agent-friendly Linux phone stack rather than another Android skin
