Cognitae is an open-source, YAML-based framework for building 22 domain-specific AI agents with strict behavioral constraints. The project is intentionally opinionated, aiming to make agent behavior auditable and less sycophantic while staying model-agnostic across Gemini, Claude, and local frontends that support system prompt injection and modular file uploads.
The YAML-first architecture is the most compelling part because it makes the agents inspectable, editable, and easier to reason about than a giant hidden prompt. The breadth is real for an experimental release, but the obvious tradeoff is that this is token-heavy and highly opinionated, so it seems best suited to power users or researchers.
