Augment Code launches SwipeReview for PR reviews

Strong product idea if Augment can make the video summaries genuinely accurate and fast to scan, because it attacks the real bottleneck in code review: attention, not syntax.

• –The upside is clear: quicker PR intake, less diff fatigue, and a more mobile-friendly workflow for high-volume reviews.
• –The risk is equally clear: a video wrapper can hide detail, weaken traceability, and make it harder to audit why a change was approved.
• –The optional voice/video replies are a good escape hatch for richer feedback, but they also increase the chance that teams treat review as a lightweight reaction stream instead of engineering scrutiny.
• –This looks best suited to teams already comfortable with Augment’s AI-generated review summaries and risk scoring; conservative teams may see it as novelty unless the underlying summaries are excellent.
