diff-tour Guides Reviews of AI-Written Code
diff-tour is an open-source, read-only terminal UI that turns Git changes into guided walkthroughs written by Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, or Copilot CLI. It explains intent, highlights review risks, and asks senior-engineer questions about failure cases, rollback, scale, and repeated execution.
diff-tour targets the most neglected problem in AI-assisted development: understanding code well enough to own and review it. Its strongest idea is making review a guided learning experience, though teams must weigh LLM cost and repository privacy.
- –Validates referenced files and line numbers, while rendering code directly from Git rather than trusting model-generated snippets
- –Surfaces the reasoning behind changes, including surrounding files and design tradeoffs absent from a raw diff
- –Read-only execution and restricted CLI permissions reduce the risk of the review tool modifying the repository
- –Tours take roughly 2–5 minutes and consume the user’s existing AI CLI plan, making cost meaningful for frequent use
- –Early-release status, experimental provider support, and sending tracked code to an external LLM remain adoption considerations
