Google launches Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform
Google Cloud launched Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, a unified environment for building, scaling, governing, and observing production AI agents. The platform folds Vertex AI’s model and agent tooling into a broader agent stack with ADK upgrades, Agent Studio, Agent Runtime, Memory Bank, Agent Registry, Agent Gateway, sandboxed execution, and access to Google, open, and third-party models.
// ANALYSIS
Google is turning Gemini Enterprise from a workplace AI wrapper into the control plane for enterprise agents, which is exactly where the agent race is headed: less chatbot polish, more runtime, identity, governance, and observability.
- –Folding future Vertex AI services into Agent Platform makes this a strategic platform shift, not a sidecar launch.
- –Long-running agents, persistent memory, agent-to-agent orchestration, and sandboxed computer use target the hard parts of moving agents past demos.
- –Governance features like Agent Identity, Registry, Gateway, Model Armor, and threat detection are Google’s clearest pitch against lighter-weight agent builders.
- –Support for 200+ models, including Gemini, Gemma, Claude, and other third-party options, keeps it from being a Gemini-only walled garden.
- –The developer upside is real, but the enterprise packaging means adoption will likely flow through Cloud accounts, procurement, and managed rollouts rather than indie experimentation.
