LM Studio clusters Macs for 1T model
During WWDC, LM Studio demonstrated a collaboration with Apple that ran the 1-trillion-parameter Kimi K2.6 model locally across a cluster of four Mac Studios using a preview version of LM Studio. They also demonstrated secure remote access to this private cluster from a MacBook Neo and an iPhone using LM Link.
Local clustering of consumer-grade hardware to run trillion-parameter models represents a significant milestone for decentralized, private AI.
- –Hardware clustering of Mac Studios showcases a viable, high-bandwidth memory alternative to expensive enterprise cloud GPUs for massive model inference.
- –LM Link enables secure, end-to-end encrypted remote access, making local home/office server setups highly practical for mobile clients.
- –This shifts the boundary of frontier-scale AI towards completely private, local environments.
