OpenTrace maps codebases as queryable knowledge graphs
OpenTrace is an open-source platform that builds dynamic, queryable knowledge graphs of engineering systems to provide AI agents with real-time architectural context. By mapping code structure, service dependencies, and infrastructure through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), it automates the "system-level awareness" that manual documentation fails to maintain.
The shift from static "LLM Wikis" to automated knowledge graphs is the logical evolution for AI-native engineering teams. OpenTrace solves the maintenance issues of manual documentation by automating the ingestion of code, traces, and infrastructure configuration. It provides typed, traversable edges that offer more precision than text-based RAG, while native MCP integration allows AI agents to programmatically query system architecture. Browser-based indexing via tree-sitter WASM ensures sensitive data remains local during mapping.
