Node.js Ships Fixes for Four High-Severity Flaws
Node.js released v22.23.4, v24.22.1, and v26.12.1 to patch 10 vulnerabilities across DNS, TLS, Brotli, and core dependencies. The most serious flaw is a Brotli decoder out-of-bounds write that can permit remote code execution. [Node.js advisory](https://nodejs.org/en/blog/vulnerability/october-2026-security-releases)
This is an urgent runtime update for any internet-facing Node.js service, especially those processing untrusted compressed data or making outbound requests.
- –Four high-severity flaws affect supported Node.js release lines, including DNS truncation and TLS hostname-validation bypasses
- –The Brotli vulnerability can enable remote code execution through maliciously crafted compressed input
- –Updates also refresh c-ares, trusted certificates, OpenSSL, SQLite, and Undici
- –Developers should upgrade runtime images, restart processes, and verify deployed Node.js versions
- –`npm audit` alone will not detect vulnerabilities in the Node.js runtime itself
