Human Atlas maps anatomy in exploded 3D
Human Atlas is an open-source React and Three.js anatomy explorer with 2,234 selectable BodyParts3D meshes, 15 anatomical systems, search, isolation controls, and exploded views. It runs locally without API keys and deploys as a static site.
Human Atlas shows how far browser-native 3D visualization can go when open data, GPU-aware rendering, and focused interaction design meet.
- –Batched geometry and per-structure GPU textures keep thousands of selectable meshes manageable in the browser
- –Local-first deployment makes the viewer useful for classrooms, demos, and offline-friendly educational tools
- –The 33 MB compressed model is reasonable for a rich atlas but still a meaningful first-load cost
- –BodyParts3D’s adult-male reference limits anatomical coverage and representation
- –Its educational scope is clear, but it should not be treated as a diagnostic or surgical tool
