Hermes Agent adds Gemma 4, llama.cpp support
Nous Research’s autonomous agent framework now supports Google’s multimodal Gemma 4 family via llama.cpp for local inference. The update enables persistent, self-improving agents to run entirely on consumer hardware across 14+ communication channels.
Hermes Agent is rapidly becoming the gold standard for 'unhinged' yet highly functional open-source agents that actually remember who you are. The addition of local Gemma 4 support via llama.cpp bridges the gap between high-performance multimodal reasoning and privacy-first local hosting. Furthermore, a built-in "learning loop" allows the agent to distill successful workflows into reusable skill documents that evolve with the user. Integration with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and persistent shell access makes it a viable open alternative to proprietary developer agents, with multi-platform synchronization ensuring that memory and skills follow the user from the CLI to Telegram or Discord.
