OpenCode Adds Free Pulse Alpha Model
OpenCode has added Pulse Alpha Free, an unnamed stealth reasoning model available at no cost for a limited time. It offers a 1M-token context window, 131K-token output limit, text-and-image input, and tool use.
Pulse Alpha’s headline specs are compelling, but the lack of an identified provider, public benchmarks, and clear end date makes this an experiment—not yet a dependable production default.
- –1M context is useful for large repositories, long agent sessions, and multimodal workloads.
- –Tool use and reasoning support make it especially relevant to coding agents.
- –OpenCode says usage data may be retained and used to improve the model.
- –Availability is region-restricted, and free access is explicitly temporary.
- –Developers should test latency, coding accuracy, and rate limits before relying on it.
