DuckFightClub turns MicroDuck training into robot combat
DuckFightClub invites teams to train reinforcement-learning policies for Pollen’s open-source MicroDuck, then pit them against one another in a livestreamed simulator tournament. Winners take home the Golden Beak Belt, with real-robot showdowns planned once the hardware ships.
This is a clever way to make robot learning feel like a spectator sport while giving developers a concrete reason to experiment with sim-to-real control.
- –Turns reinforcement-learning policy development into a competitive, community-driven format
- –Builds on MicroDuck’s open-source hardware and simulation ecosystem
- –Lets participants focus on training behavior instead of manufacturing robots
- –Livestreamed battles could make robotics research more accessible and entertaining
- –The eventual hardware transition will test whether simulator-trained policies survive real-world physics
