Hex UI integrates OpenCode2 for voice-coding
Dax Raad (@thdxr) announced that Hex UI, the interface for the open-source macOS push-to-talk voice-to-text tool Hex, is the first integration to leverage the upcoming OpenCode2 background server. Through this partnership, Hex UI can query the OpenCode2 server to fetch and configure available models and utilize the server to post-process transcribed text, streamlining hands-free agentic prompt dictation.
Integrating voice input utilities directly with agentic development environments represents a significant shift toward multimodal programming interfaces.
- –Fetching model configurations dynamically from OpenCode2 ensures Hex UI remains aligned with the user's active workspace and local AI setup.
- –Post-processing speech-to-text output through OpenCode2 helps correct spelling, syntax, and formatting in programming commands, addressing a common pain point of voice dictation.
- –This modular architecture demonstrates how independent developer utilities can easily plug into agentic developer servers via local APIs.
