Claude Code adds Telegram and Discord channels

Claude Code Channels lets you push messages, alerts, and webhooks into a live Claude Code session from Telegram or Discord. Anthropic is shipping it as a research preview with pairing codes and org controls, so the feature feels more like a remote-control surface than a standalone bot.

// ANALYSIS

This looks like Anthropic turning Claude Code into an always-on ops surface, not just a terminal assistant. The value is obvious, but the launch is intentionally narrow and a little fiddly, which will decide whether people keep it installed.

  • Keeps the agent in the same running session, so context and tool access stay attached to work already in flight.
  • Telegram and Discord are first-class, but Anthropic also documents a fakechat demo and a path for building custom channels on MCP.
  • Security is more serious than a plain bot bridge: pairing codes, sender allowlists, per-session `--channels`, and admin toggles for Team/Enterprise.
  • Early user reports already show setup friction, especially the Bun dependency and occasional MCP-server startup issues.
  • Best fit is remote triage, not full mobile coding: CI failures, alerts, and quick follow-ups while you’re away from the terminal.
