Apple posts record Q4, stays cautious on AI
Apple reported fiscal Q4 revenue of $114.5 billion, up 12% year over year, with record iPhone revenue, EPS of $2.10, and all-time-high Services revenue. The quarter was John Ternus’s first as CEO, setting up iPhone Duo, Siri AI, and on-device Apple silicon as major growth bets.
Apple is proving it can monetize AI-adjacent hardware without matching hyperscalers’ AI spending, but investors now need Siri AI to become a genuine personal-agent platform rather than merely a smarter assistant. Siri AI’s context awareness, screen understanding, and privacy-first execution could give developers a powerful distribution channel, though Apple still describes its agent architecture as primarily request-based. iPhone Duo and A20 Pro create new opportunities for foldable layouts and local AI, but Duo launched after the reported quarter and remains supply-constrained. Services reached $31.6 billion, while Apple’s installed base surpassed 2.5 billion active devices—an enormous channel for distributing future AI features. Tariff refunds contributed $0.05 to EPS, while higher memory costs pressured margins, showing that Apple’s private-AI strategy still depends on hardware economics.
