Ultracite v8 puts linting inside agent loops
Ultracite v8 standardizes agent-written JavaScript and TypeScript across Oxlint, Biome, and ESLint, using AGENTS.md and post-edit hooks to check changes as they land. It adds type-aware Oxlint setup, Codex and Deep Agents hooks, and configuration-aware upgrades.
The important shift is conceptual: linting moves from a CI gate to an always-on feedback loop around autonomous edits. That is a stronger answer to agent-generated code than another prompt file, though clean linting still cannot validate behavior.
- –AGENTS.md gives dozens of coding agents one shared standard, reducing instruction drift across tools.
- –Post-edit hooks check only changed files and return unresolved diagnostics to the agent.
- –Oxlint, Biome, and ESLint support preserves migration flexibility instead of forcing one engine.
- –Type-aware Oxlint integration catches issues that syntax-only linting misses.
- –Node.js 22.18+ and engine-specific configuration changes make upgrading existing projects nontrivial.
