Cloudflare Clairic brings typed extraction to Workers AI
Cloudflare’s Clairic is a preview System One extraction model that returns typed values from text and images, including numbers, dates, lists, estimates, and forecasts. Available through Workers AI at $0.10 per million input tokens, it generates no output tokens and exposes confidence, null probabilities, and source spans.
Clairic targets one of the most wasteful uses of frontier LLMs: turning messy documents into reliable fields. Its specialization could make extraction pipelines faster and cheaper, but developers should treat uncertainty metadata as a routing signal—not proof of correctness.
- –Typed outputs, character offsets, and explicit null handling improve auditability over generated JSON.
- –Parallel field extraction makes asking for dozens of fields roughly comparable to asking for a few.
- –The $0.10-per-million-input-token price and no output-token charge are compelling for high-volume document workflows.
- –It fits naturally before decision models or LLMs, creating a specialized extraction-to-reasoning pipeline.
- –Cloudflare acknowledges that multi-step arithmetic, long-horizon forecasting, and unfamiliar data remain weak points.
